The sun was shining on the annual Autumn Show and many visitors came to enjoy the display of vegetables, fruit, flowers , flower arrangements, a great variety of cakes and bread and good quality photos of all sorts of garden sheds, it was a good opportunity for members and guests from many different villages to come together to exchange experience or have a chat over a cup of tea and a piece of cake. Towards the end of the show the President, Brig. M Atherton gave out the cups and thanked the Committee for their work and the visitors for supporting the Society. Our Summer show was much enjoyed by everybody despite the fact that the entries of vegetables and fruits were very low for obvious reasons. The judges praised the high standard of entries and were impressed with the good organisation of the show. Vistiors enjoyed the colourful display as well as a cup of tea and a piece of home-made cake. Take a look at some of the photos in the gallery.

Coach Outing to Polesden Lacey National Trust

36 members of the Society and friends went to Polesden Lacey and enjoyed their day. They had a guided tour through the house and were entertained by the knowledgeable guides telling amusing stories about the famous owner Mrs. Greville and her lavish lifestyle the weather was very kind and the garden was beautiful, with wildflower borders, rose garden, lavender garden and vegetable plots surrounded by a peaceful countryside.

Gardening Quiz at the Kent Garden Show

Saturday saw the first match on all things horticultural between Bredhurst Gardening Society and our team.

Our team was pleased to see that they were well supported by members of our Society who had been given free entry tickets and won the very even-handed match with 23 points to 19 points.The teams were given geraniums of their choice as a price. Jaqueline Aviolet, our last speaker, was the question master and contributed greatly to an entertaining afternoon. Monday will see the Hardy Plant Society and the Alpine Society battling it out.

Plant Sale Saturday 4 May

The Plant Sale on Saturday was well supported and raised a record sum of £400. A big thank you goes to all who donated plants of all sorts, Pelargoniums, shrubs, plants for the herbacious borders, vegetable seedlings, bunches of flowers and much more as well as to those who spent their money buying plants.

The 2013 Spring Show of the Barham & District Horticultural Society took place as scheduled and turned out to be quite a success despite the prevailing adverse growing conditions.

The hall was filled with daffodils and a great variety of spring flowers and shrubs as well as beautifully decorated cakes. Take a look at some of the photos in the gallery.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Neame Cup Team

After having won all three previous matches our team finally was able to lift the winners' cup after a very lively match with 59 points against 54 points by Selling Gardening Society who were the previous year's winners. The evening was hosted by the Lower Hardres and Nackington Gardening Society at their Village Hall. Everybody enjoyed a cup of tea and a delicious buffet as well as a chat after the match.

2rd Round Neame Cup Update 11 February

The second round of the Neame Cup took place at the Barham Village Hall against the Selling Gardening Society. It was a close fought match and the Barham team won with 52 points against 50 points.
