Autumn Show Saturday 3th September (View the gallery)

A colourful display of flowers, vegetables and fruit welcomed everyone at this year's Autumn Show. The Judges remarked about the many exhibits and how enjoyable a day judging at Barham always is. We would like to thank society members who helped the committee set up and put away as, due to illness and holidays, available committee members were low. Entry numbers were up from the previous few shows, and together with the atmosphere, ensured a very successful show.

The Tea room was the busiest in recent years with homemade cakes to savour and the chance to enter the raffle. The prizes were presented by Brigadier Atherton. Take a look at some of the photos in the gallery.

Summer Show Saturday 9th July (View the gallery)

It was a great success in the 'new' Village Hall – the surroundings were cool and elegant! The judges were very complimentary – one even joined our Society!! Numbers of competitors were a little down on last year, but a temporary change to the second Saturday in July meant that some members were elsewhere engaged! At tea, visitors were treated to the very same strawberries that supply Wimbledon AND amazing double cream from Ottinge Dairies!! Take a look at some of the photos in the gallery.

Plant Sale Saturday 16th April

The plant sale was a great success with a record number of plants sold

Illustrated talk by Kevin Tooher 'Trees in Your Garden'

On Tuesday 17th March Keving Tooher talked on Trees in Your Garden which again was well attended and a fascinating insight into how to plant the right tree in the right place in the best way. As he lives locally we shall be looking to arrange to see him again in the future!

Informal discussion in the Duke

On 1st March our informal discussion in the Duke was a success with a free ranging discussion of current problems and opportunities.

Illustrated talk by Chelsea Gold Medal Winner and Garden Designer Roger Platts

On Wednesday 17th February we had our first talk of the year by Chelsea Gold Medal Winner and Garden Designer Roger Platts. This was very well attended and those present learnt of the tight timetables, imagination planning, creativity and sheer hard graft that makes the Chelsea Flower Show such a success each year.
